Statement:
The initial point of my work are found images which cause an impulse, which will be transformed into a strategy. Strategy means away from me, toward others. I try to broaden the allure of the first momentum, the first impulse, to make it noticeable, visible. I try to emerge something new. Weaving, connecting, relating.
My urge is a very personal approach to images which carry in each case a designated mood or story. For some strange reason an idea develops, through ties and intuition.
Themes in my work are oscillating between gender and sexuality, power struggles and the complementary nature of desire and beauty, pain and pleasure. These special levels of emotional tension lead me to the turning points of no return, ways, which I never walk back, rooms, which I probably can never enter again. I think a lot about this intricate string of little moments that make up our lives. We could freeze the moment at any point and the narrative of our lives could veer off in another direction. These paintings are about those moments and that’s what I try to capture.
